Osimis/orthanc Docker images replaced by orthancteam/orthanc

Hi everyone,

Starting from today, 1st of February 2024, the osimis/orthanc Docker images won’t be published anymore and new releases will be available only in the orthancteam/orthanc repository.

Note that all previous official version tags released prior to February 2024 have been copied into orthancteam/orthanc as well so, even if you are using an old version, you should update the name in your setup. We have also deleted the latest tags from osimis/orthanc to make sure you don’t pull an outdated version silently.

The name is the only thing that has changed. The content and build procedure are identical.

For the last 2 years, we, the Orthanc Team company, were the ones maintaining the osimis/orthanc images and, until 6 months ago, we were receiving financial sponsorship from Osimis.

Today, this sponsorship is gone and Osimis is not involved anymore in Orthanc.
Therefore, we have decided to rename the images. Furthermore, we wanted to make sure that all versions remained available and we could not guarantee that on a repository we do not own ourselves.

Finally, let me thank Osimis for their support between 2015 and 2023, hiring Sébastien and myself for many years surely greatly contributed to the success of the project.

Stay tuned … a new version is coming …

Best regards,

Alain.

Hi Alain,
I think the osimis/orthanc repo now doesn’t include a latest tag. We were using this tag to reference latest stable containers. Is it possible to tag the last stable version as latest to prevent pull issues?
James

Thank you for all of your work. That seems like a long time, 2015 and 2023. I am curious to see what is in the new releases.

Hi James,

I actually removed the latest tag on purpose such that users realize that the image is not updated anymore.

I understand that this can affect some automated deployment procedure that you might have but I’m afraid I have no other choice.

Please also note that the osimis/orthanc images might disappear at anytime and this is something I have no control on. So I can only recommend using the new names as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Alain.
