It is my pleasure to announce the simultaneous release of the whole-slide microscopic imaging plugin 4.0 and of the education plugin 1.2 for Orthanc.
These releases mainly revolve around the support for annotations on whole-slide images. The whole-slide imaging plugin now provides a user interface to draw and organize annotations into layers, with support for sharing annotations between instructors and learners.
The education plugin integrates with these features to provide per-user annotations and separate annotation workspaces for each course. Sharing can be controlled according to the role of the user, making it possible to support both instructor-led teaching and collaborative exercises between learners. Annotations are persistent in the Orthanc database.
These new features are described in the Orthanc Book.
