General question to whom ever is managing the QNAP distribution of Orthanc.

It appears to be installing 1.3.x version of Orthanc, can I please request that be updated to a 1.6.x version please.
or
If someone can let me know how I could manually install a later version on a QNAP NAS ?

Hello,

The QNAP package is maintained by QNAP itself. Please get in touch with their support team in order to ask an upgrade.

Regards,
Sébastien-

Thx Sebastien, however the response from QNAP was …

"Hi Mark,

Thanks for contacting QNAP.
As Orthanc is developed by The Orthanc project and Osimis S.A. like the picture below, the update depends on them.
Please contact them for further assistance, thanks.
https://www.orthanc-server.com/static.php?page=contact"

I’ll ask them to look at who supplied the package they have in their app store, hopefully that will shed some light.
This is evidently not going to be easy.

Regards
Mark

Hello again,

I can guarantee that Orthanc has not been packaged for the QTS App Center, neither by Osimis S.A., nor by the core developers of the Orthanc project.

We don’t even have write access to QTS App Center. Thus we can’t provide any further support by ourselves. It is really up to QNAP to upgrade the package, especially given that they use Orthanc as a commercial argument:

https://www.qnap.com/en/news/2017/qnap-releases-orthanc-a-lightweight-dicom-server-for-qnap-nas

Note that a community of users provide homebrew versions of Orthanc for QNAP that are slightly more up-to-date:

Sorry,
Sébastien-

Thx Sebastien.

I’ll put pressure on them to get the package up to date, and to maintain it. As you have pointed out, they use Orthanc as a selling point, and should be expected to maintain it as well.
Wish me luck. I’ll let u all know how I go.

Thank You
Regards
Mark

Good luck indeed!

Hello, I was talking to them some time ago and they told me that can not guarantee anything... So I bought small server, installed orthanc on it, made shared folder in qnap and pointed orthanc library to it. This solution is way better and you can use plugins as well so I have patient data in postgresql and files on qnap.

Hello

I know the developers of QNAP,
so I contacted if I could upgrade.
Please wait for a while.
