Stone Web viewer 3.0

Dear all,

It is my pleasure to announce the release of Stone Web Viewer 3.0.

As a reminder, unlike OHIF and VolView, this viewer is designed specifically for 2D teleradiology scenarios where speed and reduced network usage are essential. The Stone Web Viewer is actively maintained and used in my research lab to investigate AI workflows, for example in our work on mammography.

Besides many optimizations and improvements, this new version introduces support for DICOM-SR (Structured Reports), whose content can now be displayed directly as text. Pinch-zoom and panning are also supported for mobile devices. The measurement tools for US images (ultrasound) have been enhanced.

The new version is already part of the jodogne/orthanc-plugins Docker images and will soon be available in the official Microsoft Windows installers and in the orthancteam/orthanc Docker images.

Check out the documentation and the full release notes.

As a final note, you may have noticed Alain’s recent call for donations. I would like to emphasize that, beyond financial support, free and open-source software developed in universities also relies on proper academic acknowledgment to ensure long-term sustainability. If you are a researcher and wish to support Orthanc without making a donation, please make sure to appropriately cite Orthanc in your publications. In addition to the official reference paper, you may also consult the full list of publications related to Orthanc.

Enjoy,
Sébastien-
