Dear Orthanc community,
I am delighted to announce the release of the first official release of the Java plugin for Orthanc.
Thanks to this plugin, Orthanc can execute plugins written in Java, in a way that is similar to Python plugins. In particular, this enables the use of the well-known dcm4che Java library directly inside Orthanc.
As described in the reference paper about this work (i.e., “Setting a PACS on FHIR” that was presented at the HEALTHINF 2024 conference), this plugin can also be used to turn Orthanc into a basic FHIR server thanks to the HAPI FHIR Java library.
Future releases will extend the support of the Orthanc plugin SDK.
I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of citing the reference papers about Orthanc in your scientific publications. This is essential to ensure the sustainability of the project.
Enjoy,
Sébastien-
