Administration BackEnd ?

I just installed Orthanc on Mac OS X, which was relatively easy. I would rather use a more robust database, and I see that you have a plugin in for PostgreSQL (no MySAL support ?). Other Plug-ins as well.

Just wondering if there is an administration backend, or an administration backend planned. It would be nice to perform some of the administration options through a web interface rather than having to manually edit files.

Is that something that you commercial partners work on. You basically make the core and others can develop around it ?

Hello,

I just installed Orthanc on Mac OS X, which was relatively easy. I would rather use a more robust database, and I see that you have a plugin in for PostgreSQL (no MySAL support ?). Other Plug-ins as well.

As written in another thread, the Orthanc project currently only provides a SQLite back-end (available in the core version of Orthanc) and a PostgreSQL back-end (available as a plugin).

However, plugins could be developed for other RDBMS such as MySQL/MariaDB, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, taking the source code of the PostgreSQL plugin as a starting point.

Such a development could be achieved by any external contributor thanks to the plugin system of Orthanc. The question really boils down to either finding fundings for the Orthanc project to make this development by itself, or finding community contributors.

Just wondering if there is an administration backend, or an administration backend planned. It would be nice to perform some of the administration options through a web interface rather than having to manually edit files.

The answer is the same: Yes, it is definitely possible to create a graphical user interface to simplify the configuration of Orthanc (instead of manually editing the configuration file). But we need fundings or contributors.

Is that something that you commercial partners work on. You basically make the core and others can develop around it ?

Our official commercial partner (Osimis - http://osimis.io/), or any other enterprise ensuring commercial support over Orthanc could make this development. I don’t know whether they are working on your needs, you can ask them at:
Orthanc - DICOM Server
