Question regarding licensing and commercial redistribution

Hello,
I’ve read the dedicated page and the guidelines but I still have a question regarding redistributing Orthanc as part of a much larger commercial software. It seems that as soon that I create a plugin I fall in the [restricted] category meaning that “your third-party system must change its license to GPLv3”.

But what is considered “the 3rd party sytem” ? Do I have to set my whole software to GPLv3 (would be a no-go) or do I only have to license THE PLUGIN under GPLv3 (which would not be a big deal) ?

Hi @fmarot

In our understanding, the GPLv3 states that only the code running in the same process as Orthanc is considered as a derivative work and is therefore affected by the GPLv3 license → only the plugin.
