# New plugin: STL

Dear Orthanc community,
It is my pleasure to announce that my research team at [UCLouvain](https://orthanc.uclouvain.be/) has just publicly released a new plugin for Orthanc to handle DICOM STL files.
The [STL (stereolithography)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STL_(file_format)) file format is a standard 3D file format used to represent surface geometry of 3D objects using triangular facets (also known as meshes).

Pre-compiled binaries are available on the homepage and the `jodogne/orthanc-plugins` Docker images already contain this new plugin. Updated Windows installers and `orthancteam/orthanc` Docker images will soon be available as well.
