Disable Merging Studies in one Patient

Hello,

Am using orthanc as PACS within my environment, everything is working fine, images are sent automatically to the PACS server(Orthanc). But after 100 studies, I can not be able to search through studies listed under orthanc using a patient name as daily studies get merged in one patient name. When I open that patient name, then all studies for various patients show up with no name tag. When i use the lookup wizard to search pr day patients, the list shows up but with no tag field entries such as below;

undefined:
undefined:
undefined:

when i click on the above link it will show the studies but still under the wrong patient name.
How can I change this merger behavior within orthanc?
Can I adjust the Search options under All Studies to filter and show only current date patients of latest studies done?

Thanks in advance
Patric

Hi Patric,

There’s very likely an issue with the data you are pushing to Orthanc.

I would highly recommend you to open a few instances from various studies and look at the PatientID.
Orthanc uses the PatientID as a unique identifier for patients. If all your patients have the same PatientID, they get “merged” into a unique patient.

Alain

Hello,

Regarding the “undefined:” values, you should have a look at this previous thread on the mailing list:

Hello Alain,

From the studies in Orthanc listing, the field for Patient ID is blank, the data is coming from NX workstation machine(Agfa), am not sure if what is being pushed from the NX has incorrect tags because when I try to upload a Dicom file manually to Orthanc, It shows correct information and is listed as an independent study. But when I click on ALL Studies button on Orthanc, it displays all studies with patient names, the problem is that after the studies reached 100, it cannot show more studies for performance issues as displayed on the studies listing page.

Yes, blank PatientID means that all your patients have the same IDs and they are therefore merged into a single patient.

You might still be able to search for studies by PatientName in the “lookup” page:

Ideally, you should reconfigure your workstation/worklist server/RIS … to make sure you have separate PatientID in the images that are acquired before being pushed to Orthanc.

HTH,

Alain.

Great, let me try using the lookup page when the studies are more than 100 and revert. Am once again thankful for your help and guidance.
