Delay in the import and export of studies Tomography

Hi all

I have a delay problem with a server and I can’t figure out how to improve it.

I have an Orthanc server installed where I store Tomography studies. When I export the studies to that server, the images are sent in small groups (about 10 images at a time) causing an unwanted delay in sending the entire study. When I retrieve a study on that server from a workstation (I use Radiant), I have a delay in getting the search results and in the subsequent import of the images. Each CT study has about 4000-5000 images and is small in size (2GB average per study).

Additional data, every time I restart the Orthanc server the work speed is good (it sends the images in groups of 40 with 1-second stops and I locate the studios for import in about 8 seconds), but as they go by the hours the server work gets slower and the export and import times of the images increase.

I have installed another Orthanc server exactly the same where I store Rx, US and MG studios (few images and medium size, 10 and 60MB per studio), and on this server there is no visible delay, both in the export and in the import of the images.

Do you have any idea how to solve or improve that problem?

First of all, double-check the scalability of your setup:

The fact that your second Orthanc server (storing RX, US and MG) is not impacted by the delay, seems to indicate that the problem lies in your Tomography server, not in Orthanc.

Thanks for your answer, I will review all the modifications you propose and then I will tell you if the delay problem was improved.

An interesting fact. When I installed version 1.7.2 the problem of the delay for about 3 weeks was temporarily eliminated. After that time, the delay in searching and importing the studies from the PACS appeared again. Since the last version was installed, no modification has been made on that server.
