ChatGPT provides the following solution to delete a file after ‘X’ days. However, I couldn’t find this article in Orthanc Documentation. Can anyone confirm whether this mechanism works?
Hello,
I’m saying “hello” because ChatGPT recommends it:
That being said, why don’t you give it a try ?
Is it too tiring?
Here is the doc:

If you have a look for the PurgePeriod
, you will have the answer to your question
Regards,
Hello,
Didn’t understand there would be so much of a fuss for not including a Hello. The only concern I had was the credibility of the code as it’s not in the official documentation. I’m making changes on a live server and a lot is at stake here. Can’t expect it to crash for just “experimenting”. Even the link you shared had no information on it.
Anyways, hopefully this is my last post on this forum. Switching to some other PACS, where at least the forum members are more welcoming and not too ettiquette-concerned.
Bye.
You are probably right, my message was a little bit sharp, sorry.
I’m sometimes a little bit bored by users here who ask without having a look to the documentation before posting. I’m spending time here to help and I would expect some effort on the other side…
Maybe you did it, I don’t know…
That being said, the link I shared is definitely relevant, it shows the list of all the existing parameters and the ChatGPT one is not listed, so the code you posted is not correct.
I wish you the best with some other PACS, feel free to come back at any time, you will always be welcome
Hello,
Back to the original question: This is an hallucination by ChatGPT. There is no built-in PurgePeriod
option.
You could however easily implement this behavior through the REST API of Orthanc.
Kind Regards,
